Ghanaian forward Jonathan Sowah is on the verge of completing a transfer from Al Nasr Benghazi to Tanzanian side Singida Black Stars SC.

The deal, valued at $220,000, was confirmed today by African football expert Micky Jnr.

Personal terms have already been agreed, and Sowah will join a growing contingent of Ghanaian players at Singida Black Stars, including Ibrahim Imoro, Emmanuel Keyekeh, and Victorien Adebayor. The move will be officially completed when the Tanzanian transfer window opens in the second week of December.

The 25-year-old had initially been contracted to stay at Al Nasr until December 31, 2025, after joining the club on January 27, 2024, for a reported fee of €200,000. During his time with Al Nasr, Sowah scored three goals in seven CAF Champions League appearances, although the team was unable to clinch the title as Egypt’s Al-Ahly emerged as champions.

Sowah also enjoyed a strong 2023-2024 season in the Ghana Premier League, scoring four goals in eight appearances for Medeama SC. He played a key role in Medeama’s 2022-2023 league title victory, netting 12 goals and contributing one assist in 20 league matches.

His stellar performances earned him a call-up to the Black Stars for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations under former coach Chris Hughton, though Ghana was eliminated in the group stage.
