AS Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu has expressed satisfaction with his development since joining the French Ligue 1 side, highlighting improvements in key areas of his game.

The Ghanaian international endured a challenging start to his Monaco career, spending much of his first season sidelined by injury. However, he has since emerged as a vital figure in the team following his move from Southampton.

Speaking to Monaco’s media team, the former Real Valladolid center-back shared insights into his growth both on and off the ball.

“I think I have progressed with and without the ball. With our way of playing, we play with the ball very often,” Salisu stated.

“As a defender, we have to be good with the ball at our feet. Without the ball, I feel like I am winning more duels and making more interceptions compared to last season,” he added.

Salisu featured in his seventh Ligue 1 match of the season during Monaco’s narrow 2-1 defeat to Olympique Marseille over the weekend. Despite the loss, Monaco remains in third place on the league table, firmly in contention for a Champions League spot.

The 24-year-old will aim to continue his strong form as Monaco prepares to host Toulouse FC at the Stade Louis II on Sunday, December 8. A win could help them close the gap on league leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
