Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah has heaped praise on head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum for elevating his game and helping him improve as a player.
The 22-year-old, who joined the Porcupine Warriors from Great Olympics in the summer, has been in sensational form, scoring seven goals in 12 Ghana Premier League matches so far.
Amoah was the hero in last Sunday’s Super Clash against Hearts of Oak, scoring the decisive goal deep into injury time after a defensive mix-up involving Hearts’ defender Kelvin Osei Asibey and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare. The goal sealed a vital win for Kotoko and further showcased Amoah’s growing importance to the team.
Reflecting on his progress, Amoah credited coach Prosper Narteh Ogum for guiding him to unlock his potential.
“I give thanks to Coach Ogum because I never thought I would play for Kotoko. He coached me back in SHS during the regionals, and at the time, I was playing as a midfielder. He has known me for a long time and believed in my capabilities, which is why he signed me for Kotoko. I vowed not to let him down,” Amoah revealed.
“He has always been tough on me during training, and it’s paying off for me now,” he added.
Amoah’s fine form has positioned him as a contender for the Ghana Premier League goal king award. He currently trails Nations FC forward Faisal Charwetey, who leads the top-scorers chart with eight goals, while Amoah sits closely behind with seven.
