Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has commended his players for their resilience and determination after edging arch-rivals Hearts of Oak 1-0 in Sunday’s Ghana Premier League Super Clash.
In a tense and fiercely contested encounter between Ghana’s two most successful clubs, a decisive strike from Guinean forward Morifing Donzo sealed a memorable away victory for the Porcupine Warriors.
Kotoko displayed impressive composure and tactical discipline throughout the match, frustrating the Phobians while taking their chances when it mattered most.
Speaking after the game, Zito praised his players for maintaining focus and fighting spirit in what he described as one of the most challenging fixtures on the calendar.
“Everybody knows Hearts and Kotoko — it’s always a very difficult game,” Zito told reporters. “You saw the supporters today; everyone is happy. It was tough, but the mindset to win was there because we knew this victory would help us achieve our season’s objective.”
The win extends Asante Kotoko’s unbeaten run to six matches in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign. With three games in hand, the Reds remain firmly in contention for the title as they continue their strong start under Zito’s leadership.
