CF Montréal forward Prince Osei Owusu has received his first-ever call-up to the Black Stars ahead of Ghana’s upcoming friendlies against Japan and South Korea, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively report.

The 28-year-old German-born Ghanaian has been included in head coach Otto Addo’s final squad for the Asian tour, marking a major milestone in his professional career.

Owusu, currently plying his trade in Major League Soccer with CF Montréal, has long been on the radar of the Black Stars technical team thanks to his consistent performances in North America’s top flight.

Addo, who has followed Owusu’s career since his stints with Toronto FC and 1860 Munich, had previously included him in Ghana’s standby list for last month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros. The current call-up provides the perfect platform to assess him more closely at the international level.

With several senior players unavailable, Owusu has been drafted to strengthen Ghana’s attacking options as the Black Stars prepare for two high-profile friendlies designed to test the squad ahead of a crucial year.

Ghana will face Japan on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Toyota Stadium in Aichi, before taking on South Korea on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in Seoul. These fixtures form part of the Black Stars’ broader preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, giving Addo an opportunity to refine tactics and evaluate emerging talents like Owusu.
