Hearts of Oak midfielder Mohammed Hussein has publicly apologised for confronting referee Reginald Collins Amoah after his team’s 1-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
In a Facebook post, Hussein admitted his behaviour was wrong and took full responsibility, apologising to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the referee, his teammates, and Hearts supporters.
“With a heavy heart, I sincerely apologise to the GFA, the referee, my teammates, our cherished supporters, and the wider football community. What happened after the final whistle was unacceptable, and I take full responsibility for my behaviour,” he wrote.
He explained that frustration during the game led to his actions, admitting he allowed his emotions to take over. Hussein promised to learn from the incident and act more professionally in the future.
“I am committed to making amends and proving through my conduct that I have learned from this mistake,” he added.
Hearts of Oak are expected to review the incident internally, while the GFA Disciplinary Committee may also take further action.
