Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has praised the “perfect” environment at Manchester City following an eye-catching start to his career with the Premier League champions.
The Black Stars forward, who joined City just last week, has wasted no time making his mark, delivering two goals and one assist in his first two appearances across competitions.
Semenyo announced himself in emphatic fashion by scoring and providing an assist in City’s FA Cup victory over Exeter City last Saturday. He followed that up with another influential display on Tuesday night, inspiring Pep Guardiola’s side to a 2–0 win over Newcastle United in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final.
His outstanding performances have not gone unnoticed, with the former AFC Bournemouth and Bristol City attacker scooping back-to-back Man of the Match awards, underlining his seamless adaptation to life at the Etihad.
Speaking after the victory at St James’ Park, Semenyo was full of praise for the atmosphere within the squad and the support he has received since arriving in Manchester.
“The environment at Manchester City is perfect. Everyone is confident and wants to achieve the best,” he said.
“I’ve just come into that. They’ve helped me with my confidence and made me feel welcome.”
With momentum firmly on his side, Semenyo has sent a strong statement of intent ahead of this weekend’s Manchester derby against United, where he will be hoping to retain his place in Guardiola’s starting XI and continue his impressive run in sky blue.
