Hearts of Oak head coach Didi Dramani has explained his decision to start second-choice goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi over the in-form Benjamin Asare, describing it as a planned strategy to manage player workload and strengthen competition for the number-one spot.
Agbasi delivered a stellar performance in the club’s Matchday 21 clash against Bechem United, producing several crucial saves and helping the Phobians secure a clean sheet and an important three points.
Speaking after the game, Dramani highlighted the reasoning behind the rotation.
“The reason is just to deload and also to give Solomon game minutes,” he said.
He added that nurturing a strong internal culture within the squad was central to his approach.
“If we were in the FA Cup, Solomon would have featured in those games. But after three or four matches, Benjamin needs to be deloaded. This helps build a very strong culture within our goalkeeping department.”
The win lifted Hearts of Oak to 36 points, putting them level with Bibiani Gold Stars and Aduana FC while moving ahead of rivals Asante Kotoko in the league standings, setting up a high-stakes clash in the coming weeks.
