Gazale Abdulai has strongly questioned the disciplinary action taken against him by the Ghana Football Association, saying the punishment handed to him is not fair.
The assistant coach of Accra Hearts of Oak was first suspended for four matches after being found guilty of misconduct in a Ghana Premier League game against Medeama SC. Later, the GFA Disciplinary Committee imposed an extra three-match suspension and fined him 5,000 Ghana cedis.
Reacting to the ruling, Abdulai indicated that the added sanction means he is serving a total of seven matches for what he believes was a single offence. He explained that although the charge was described as unsporting behaviour, extending the ban after the initial four matches was, in his view, wrong. He stressed that even though he is not a legal expert, he believes the decision does not seem right.
The Hearts of Oak assistant coach also denied claims that he assaulted a ball retriever during the match. He maintained that he did not hit the boy and suggested that the accusations made against him were influenced.
Abdulai further stated that he had already completed the original four-match suspension before the additional three-game ban and fine were announced.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association has insisted that the disciplinary measures were applied according to its regulations. The new suspension has taken immediate effect, and the fine is expected to be paid within fourteen days after official notice.
The development has sparked conversations within the domestic league as discussions continue about fairness and discipline in the Ghana Premier League.
