Molde FK deny €2.8 million bid for Jalal Abdullai, confirm only one offer was made

Molde FK have firmly dismissed reports claiming they submitted a €2.8 million bid for Ghanaian forward Jalal Abdullai, clarifying that the club made only one official approach to IF Elfsborg after the player’s purchase clause expired

The Norwegian top-flight side moved quickly to set the record straight following widespread speculation in sections of the media suggesting that a fresh multi-million-euro bid had been tabled for the highly-rated attacker. Club officials have indicated that such reports are inaccurate and do not reflect the true nature of negotiations between the two clubs.

According to sources close to the situation, Molde’s interest in Jalal Abdullai remains genuine, but the club insists it has not made multiple offers as being portrayed. Instead, management confirmed that a single proposal was sent to IF Elfsborg after the initial purchase clause tied to the player lapsed. That clause, which previously defined a specific transfer value, expired without being triggered, opening the door for new negotiations under revised terms.

The clarification is seen as an attempt by Molde FK to calm speculation and manage expectations surrounding the future of the Ghanaian forward, whose performances have attracted attention in recent months. While the exact figure of the offer has not been publicly disclosed, the club was categorical in stating that the widely reported €2.8 million bid is not accurate.

Jalal Abdullai’s future has become a subject of intense discussion, particularly among Ghanaian football fans who continue to follow the progress of young talents abroad. The forward’s pace, strength and attacking instincts have made him a key figure, drawing admiration from scouts and clubs seeking to bolster their offensive options.

For IF Elfsborg, the situation presents a strategic decision. With the purchase clause no longer active, the Swedish club now holds greater control over the player’s valuation and can negotiate more freely. This could potentially drive the price upward if multiple clubs express concrete interest.

Molde FK, however, appear keen to maintain a professional and transparent approach, distancing themselves from figures circulating in the media. By confirming that only one offer has been submitted, the club aims to avoid unnecessary pressure and speculation that could complicate discussions.

As talks continue behind the scenes, the coming weeks are expected to be decisive in determining Jalal Abdullai’s next move. For now, Molde FK’s position is clear: no €2.8 million bid was made, and negotiations remain based on a single official offer following the expiration of the earlier clause.
