Kofi Adams, Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, has revealed that the Black Stars will have a proposed budget of GHS 146,268,659.80 (just under $14 million) to support their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer.

The allocation is intended to cover all aspects of the team’s participation, including training camps, logistics, player bonuses, technical staff expenses, and tournament-related activities.

The Ministry clarified that this budget represents a full competition scenario and is contingent on Ghana advancing through all stages of the tournament. A detailed breakdown of expenditures and funding arrangements will be shared as preparations intensify in the lead-up to the World Cup.

The Black Stars will use the March international break to play friendly matches against Germany national football team and Austria national football team, followed by a fixture against Mexico national football team in May, as part of their comprehensive build-up to the tournament.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L, opening their World Cup campaign against Panama national football team on June 17, before facing England national football team on June 23, and concluding the group stage against Croatia national football team on June 27.

Following consecutive group-stage exits in recent World Cups, the four-time African champions are determined to make a strong impression on the global stage in the co-hosted tournament across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

The confirmed budget and pre-tournament friendlies are seen as critical steps in ensuring the team is well-prepared to compete at the highest level.
