Asante Kotoko SC have suffered a major setback after deputy captain Lord Amoah sustained a serious knee injury in their recent Ghana Premier League clash.
The right back was forced off in the 90th minute following a harsh tackle during Kotoko’s 2-0 away victory over Young Apostles at Wenchi. Kotoko’s medical team immediately arranged for him to be transferred back to Kumasi for further assessment.
IMR scans revealed that Amoah has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial meniscus tear, an injury that could sideline the deputy captain for an extended period.
Amoah, who has already contributed nine goals this season, is scheduled to undergo surgery in the coming days, dealing a significant blow to Kotoko’s defensive line and leadership on the pitch.
