Medeama SC produced a stunning performance on Sunday as they defeated fierce rivals Asante Kotoko 4–0 in a dominant Ghana Premier League Week 29 clash at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium.
The home side were in complete control from the start, showing strong attacking play and solid defending throughout the match. Their early pressure quickly paid off when they broke the deadlock in the 14th minute. A shot from Manuel Mantey took a deflection off Henry Ansu, which wrong-footed the goalkeeper and gave Medeama the opening goal.
Kotoko tried to respond, but Medeama kept pushing forward with confidence. In the 29th minute, Kelvin Obeng doubled the lead with a powerful header after rising highest in the box, leaving the visitors struggling to cope with the intensity.
Before the break, Medeama added a third goal through Salim Adams, who finished calmly from close range to put his side firmly in control at 3–0 going into halftime.
Any hopes of a Kotoko comeback were crushed shortly after the restart. Just five minutes into the second half, Adams struck again to complete his brace and seal a brilliant performance. His impact on the game earned him the Man of the Match award.
Medeama maintained their dominance until the final whistle, comfortably securing all three points with a clean sheet and a statement victory in the title race.
The result sends Medeama back to the top of the Ghana Premier League table, moving two points ahead of defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars, with only a few matches left in the season.
With the league race heating up, Medeama’s emphatic win sends a strong message to their rivals that they are serious contenders for the championship as the season approaches its decisive stage.
