Ghana’s U17 national team, the Black Starlets, will take on Ivory Coast in two international friendly matches as they intensify preparations for the upcoming U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The fixtures are scheduled to be played at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, with the first game set for Tuesday, April 28, followed by the second on Friday, May 1.
The team is expected to leave Ghana on April 26, travelling first to Abidjan before heading to Ebimpe, where both matches will be staged.
Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum believes the encounters will provide a valuable assessment of his squad ahead of the continental tournament. According to him, facing a strong opponent like Ivory Coast on their home soil will help sharpen the team’s competitiveness and reveal areas that need improvement.
He explained that the matches will test the players’ tactical discipline, mental strength, and ability to perform under pressure, all of which are crucial ahead of the competition.
Ogum also noted that the friendlies will play a key role in shaping his final squad and refining his tactical setup, as players will be given the chance to prove their readiness and consistency.
Ghana has been drawn in Group D for the tournament, where they will compete against Senegal, Algeria, and South Africa. Expectations remain high as the Black Starlets aim to make a strong impression and secure qualification to the global stage.
