Samuel Attah Kumi delivered a sensational performance on the final day of the Ghana Premier League season by scoring six goals in Bibiani Gold Stars’ emphatic 8-3 victory over Eleven Wonders.
The striker’s remarkable display also earned him the Golden Boot award after finishing the campaign as the league’s top scorer with 19 goals.
Heading into the final round of matches, Kumi was trailing Augustine Okrah of Bechem United by two goals in the race for the top scorer prize.
However, the Gold Stars forward produced an unforgettable performance at Dun’s Park, finding the back of the net six times in the 35th, 38th, 47th, 52nd, 65th and stoppage-time minutes.
Okrah also scored twice in Bechem United’s 3-2 defeat to Berekum Chelsea, but Kumi’s extraordinary goal haul allowed him to overtake his rival at the top of the scoring chart.
Razack Sanou and John Arthur Godfred added the other goals for Bibiani Gold Stars, while Abdul Rashid Husseini and Eden Kofi Asamoah, who scored twice, were on target for Eleven Wonders.
The heavy victory capped an impressive season for Bibiani Gold Stars, who had already seen their title hopes end the previous week following defeat to Dreams FC.
Despite missing out on the league title, the day belonged to Samuel Attah Kumi, whose six-goal masterclass became one of the most memorable individual performances in recent Ghana Premier League history.
