Former Hearts of Oak striker Sadat Karim has come to the defence of Ghana left-back Baba Rahman, questioning the persistent criticism directed at the player despite his long-standing contributions to the national team.
In a post shared on social media, Sadat Karim expressed surprise at the continued negativity surrounding Baba Rahman, suggesting that much of the backlash may be linked to his association with former Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng and other external factors rather than his performances on the pitch.
“Why am I still seeing so much hate for Baba Rahman after all these years. I guess it is largely because of his affiliation with Kurt? He’s been the most consistent and best left back we have in abroad over the last few years,” he wrote.
Sadat Karim further highlighted Baba Rahman’s resilience, referencing the serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury he suffered during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations while on national team duty, an incident that nearly stalled his career.
“This same guy’s career was almost ruined after the ACL he had at the AFCON 2017 while playing for the national team,” he added.
He also pointed out what he sees as unfair comparisons, noting that some players receive less scrutiny despite limited game time at club level.
“There are players in the squad that haven’t played full 90 this season and Baba Rahman who has been consistent in the past three seasons is your problem???” he questioned.
Baba Rahman, who remains one of Ghana’s most experienced left-backs in Europe, has faced mixed reactions from sections of fans in recent years, despite continuing to feature regularly at club level and for the Black Stars.

Sadat Karim’s comments add to the ongoing debate around selection and performance in the national team, as discussions about experience and form continue to dominate Ghana football conversations.
