Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has expressed unwavering confidence in the Black Stars’ chances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, boldly declaring that Ghana will overcome all three of their group-stage opponents.
The four-time African champions are gearing up for their fifth appearance at football’s biggest tournament and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
After disappointing exits at the group stage in both the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the 2022 edition in Qatar, Ghana will be determined to make a deeper run in North America this year.
Addressing members of the Ghanaian community in the United States, Okraku delivered an ambitious message ahead of the tournament, insisting the Black Stars have what it takes to dominate their group rivals.
“We have three opponents at this World Cup: Panama, England and Croatia. We will crush all of them,” Okraku declared.
The Black Stars will kick off their World Cup campaign against Panama on Wednesday at BMO Field in Toronto. They will then face England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 before rounding off their Group L fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
Ghana’s squad is expected to arrive in Canada later today as preparations intensify for the crucial opening encounter against Panama, with hopes high that the Black Stars can make a strong start and restore their reputation on the global stage.
