Asante Kotoko have opened discussions over a potential move for Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi, with GHANAsoccernet.com understanding that the Ghana international is emerging as a key transfer target ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Sources close to the negotiations indicate that the Porcupine Warriors have initiated talks with the experienced shot-stopper as they seek to reinforce their goalkeeping department before the start of the new campaign.

Although discussions are progressing positively, no agreement has yet been reached and negotiations remain ongoing.

Agbasi’s current contract with Accra Hearts of Oak SC is nearing its expiration, making him one of the most sought-after free-agent goalkeepers on the domestic market.

The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the Ghana Premier League’s most reliable goalkeepers in recent seasons, earning widespread praise for his commanding presence, excellent reflexes, composure under pressure and consistent performances between the posts.

His impressive displays at club level also earned him recognition with the Ghana national football team, and he is currently part of the Black Stars squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, serving as Ghana’s standby goalkeeper ahead of Saturday’s Round of 32 encounter against Colombia.

For now, Agbasi’s full attention remains on Ghana’s World Cup campaign, with any decision regarding his club future expected after the tournament.

Should the move eventually be completed, it would rank among the biggest domestic transfers of the window, seeing the goalkeeper cross one of Ghanaian football’s fiercest rivalries by moving directly from Hearts of Oak to Asante Kotoko SC.

Kotoko remain keen to secure the goalkeeper’s signature, but with negotiations still underway, all parties are expected to continue discussions before any official announcement is made.
