Ghanaian youngster Graham Ankamafio has committed his future to FC Copenhagen by signing a new long-term contract before completing a season-long loan move to Swedish club Rosengård 1917.
The 18-year-old centre-back, regarded as one of the club’s brightest defensive prospects, recently featured in Copenhagen’s first-team training camp in Austria, where he continued to impress the coaching staff with his performances.
Following the extension of his contract, the youngster will now spend the upcoming campaign with Rosengard 1917 to gain valuable senior football experience and accelerate his development.
Copenhagen’s Development Director, Morten Grahn, expressed confidence in the defender’s future, describing him as one of the club’s most exciting young talents.
“Graham is an uncompromising and hard-working central defender who possesses a rare and exciting physical presence,” Grahn said.
“We are very pleased to extend Graham’s contract, and together we have put together a good plan for his next development step.
“Regular playing time is crucial at this stage in his career, and we look forward to seeing him further develop his great potential at Rosengard.”
Ankamafio has been part of the Copenhagen academy since joining as an Under-12 player from Danish side B.93.
He has steadily progressed through every youth level, earning a reputation for his commanding presence, physical strength and composure in defence.
The teenager also expressed his delight after committing his future to the Danish Superliga champions.
“I am incredibly proud and grateful for the trust that FC Copenhagen are showing in me with this extension,” Ankamafio said.
“I owe a big thank you to my family and the coaches around me, who have helped me get here. It has required hard work, but it has also been a fantastic journey so far.”
Looking ahead to his loan spell, the Ghanaian prospect believes regular first-team football is the ideal next step in his career.
“For me, it’s now about getting minutes in my legs and experience at senior level. The loan with Rosengard is a perfect opportunity and a good starting point to come back stronger so that I can really get a foothold in the first team at FC Copenhagen.”
The move represents another important milestone in the career of the Danish-born Ghanaian, who will be hoping to continue his impressive development before returning to challenge for a place in Copenhagen’s senior squad.
His progress will also be closely monitored by Ghana, as he remains eligible to represent the Black Stars at international level in the future.
