Ghanaian midfielder Augustine Boakye has emerged as a reported transfer target for English Championship club Wrexham, with the Welsh side monitoring his situation at French club Saint-Etienne.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has made an impressive start to the new season, starting both of Saint-Etienne’s Ligue 2 fixtures and registering one assist. He has featured for 71% of the available league minutes, underlining his importance to the French side’s plans.
Boakye joined Saint-Etienne from Austrian club Wolfsberger AC on 13 July 2024 and remains contracted with the club until June 30, 2028. His current market valuation is estimated at €6 million, although no official offer or negotiations have been confirmed.
Born in Bompata, Ghana, Boakye is a versatile left-footed attacking midfielder known for his creativity, technical ability and ability to operate in advanced positions.
The Ghana international was also included in the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, although he did not make an appearance during Ghana’s opening matches of the tournament.
Wrexham, who are preparing for their first Championship campaign after promotion, are reportedly exploring options to strengthen their squad, with Boakye’s experience in European football making him a potential target.
However, any possible move remains at the speculation stage, with Saint-Etienne holding a strong position due to the midfielder’s long-term contract.
Boakye’s performances in France will continue to attract attention as the transfer window progresses, with Wrexham among the clubs reportedly keeping an eye on the Ghanaian playmaker.
