Ghana international Tariq Lamptey has made his long-awaited return to competitive football after spending 335 days on the sidelines recovering from a serious ACL injury.
The 25-year-old full-back came on as a second-half substitute in Queens Park Rangers’ draw with Bolton Wanderers, marking his first official appearance since the injury that prematurely ended his spell with Italian club Fiorentina.
Lamptey joined the Championship outfit as a free agent during the summer transfer window after completing his rehabilitation, and his return is a major boost for both club and country.
The former Black Stars defender will now be hoping to regain full match fitness and rediscover the form that made him one of Ghana’s most exciting full-backs before his lengthy injury setback.
His comeback is expected to be welcomed by Ghana supporters as Lamptey aims to re-establish himself at club level and work his way back into the Black Stars setup.
