Austrian Bundesliga side SK Sturm Graz have completed the signing of German-Ghanaian defender Joshua Quarshie on a one-year loan deal from Southampton FC.
The 22-year-old centre-back, who is a Germany U21 international, joins Sturm Graz to strengthen their defence ahead of the new campaign.
Quarshie developed in Germany through the youth systems of Schalke 04 and Fortuna Düsseldorf before moving into senior football. Last season, he featured 18 times for Southampton across all competitions.
Sturm Graz sporting director Michael Parensen described Quarshie as the ideal replacement for departing defender Jeyland Mitchell, praising his pace, physical strength and ability to use both feet.
The Ghana-eligible defender is also excited about the move, saying Sturm’s ambitions in the league, cup competitions and Europe convinced him to join the club.
Quarshie will now look to gain more first-team experience in Austria while helping Sturm Graz compete on both domestic and European fronts.
