Young Apostles returned to winning ways in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Aduana FC at the Wenchi Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 11.
Samuel Prempeh scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot just before half-time to hand the Wenchi-based side all three points in their Week Six encounter.
The victory ended Young Apostles’ run of three consecutive league defeats and provided a much-needed boost to their campaign after a difficult spell.
Playing in front of their home supporters, the hosts approached the regional derby determined to turn their fortunes around against an Aduana FC side that arrived in Wenchi in impressive form.
The Dormaa-based club had won their previous three league matches and were hoping to extend that run with another positive result on the road.
However, Young Apostles remained competitive and eventually found the breakthrough on the brink of half-time when Prempeh calmly converted a penalty to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
The goal proved crucial in a closely contested encounter, with Apostles heading into the interval knowing they had a valuable advantage to protect.
Aduana FC returned for the second half seeking an equaliser, but the visitors were unable to find a way past the determined home side.
The Ogya Boys had entered the fixture with considerable confidence following their 2-1 comeback victory over Swedru All Blacks in their previous league outing. Stephen Amankona scored both goals in that match to help Aduana secure all three points.
They were also hoping to build on their historic first-ever Ghana Premier League victory over Asante Kotoko in Kumasi, but their trip to Wenchi ended in disappointment.
Young Apostles, meanwhile, showed greater resilience as they worked to preserve their narrow lead throughout the remainder of the contest.
Prempeh’s first-half penalty ultimately separated the two sides, with the hosts holding firm to record an important victory and bring their difficult run of results to an end.
The result provides renewed encouragement for Young Apostles as they seek to establish greater consistency in the league. Ending a three-match losing streak will offer the team confidence ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
For Aduana FC, the defeat represents a setback after three consecutive league victories. Their inability to secure a result in Wenchi also continues their recent difficulties away from home.
The Dormaa-based side will now need to regroup and respond in their next fixture as they seek to maintain their position among the competitive teams in the league.
Young Apostles, on the other hand, will hope to use Sunday’s triumph as a foundation for improved performances in the coming weeks, with Prempeh’s decisive spot-kick giving them a valuable three points in their campaign.
