The 2026/27 MTN FA Cup final will be played over two legs, according to FA Cup Committee Vice Chairman Frank Nelson Nwokolo.
Nwokolo disclosed the decision during the draw for the preliminary round of the upcoming competition, explaining that the move is intended to ensure that more people experience the excitement surrounding the final.
“This season’s MTN FA Cup final will be played over two legs because we want everyone to feel it,” he said.
The decision represents a departure from the traditional single-match final format and is expected to generate additional interest as the competition progresses towards its decisive stage.
Playing the final over two legs would give the competing teams an opportunity to face each other both home and away, potentially creating more excitement for supporters and extending the build-up to the crowning of the champions.
The MTN FA Cup remains one of Ghana’s major domestic football competitions, bringing together clubs from different levels of the football pyramid to compete for the prestigious trophy.
The preliminary-round draw marks the beginning of the journey for participating clubs seeking to advance through the various stages and secure a place in the final.
Further details regarding the venues, dates and arrangements for the two-legged final were not provided in Nwokolo’s announcement.
