FC AshantiGold staged a spirited comeback to beat Swedru All Blacks 2-1 at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Sunday, ending the hosts’ impressive unbeaten home run in the Ghana Premier League.
The Elephants recovered from an early setback to claim their first away victory of the 2026/27 campaign, ending a poor run on the road while inflicting only All Blacks’ second defeat of the season.
Swedru All Blacks made the perfect start when Faisal Charwetey broke the deadlock in the seventh minute, giving the Black Magicians an early advantage in front of their home supporters.
AshantiGold responded almost immediately, with Zak Musah restoring parity seven minutes later after capitalising on sustained attacking pressure.
The visitors grew into the contest after the equaliser and continued to threaten as both sides searched for a decisive goal.
Their persistence paid off in the 77th minute when Frederick Twumasi found the back of the net to complete the turnaround and hand AshantiGold a deserved lead.
Despite late pressure from the hosts, AshantiGold defended resolutely to secure all three points and record a morale-boosting victory.
The result marks a significant turnaround for the Obuasi-based club, who had managed just one point from their previous four away matches, drawing with Port City before losing three successive games on the road.
For Swedru All Blacks, the defeat ended a three-match winning streak and brought their remarkable 10-match unbeaten home record to an end.
AshantiGold will look to build on the confidence gained from the comeback triumph, while All Blacks will be eager to bounce back after seeing their impressive home run come to a halt.
