Substitute Kwadwo Obeng Junior scored a dramatic late equaliser to earn Debibi United a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Dreams FC in their Ghana Premier League clash at the Tuba Astro Turf on Sunday.
Both sides entered the encounter full of confidence after recording important victories in their previous matches, but they were forced to settle for a share of the spoils after an entertaining contest.
The opening half produced few clear-cut opportunities as both teams cancelled each other out, with neither side able to find the breakthrough before the interval.
Dreams FC eventually broke the deadlock in the 70th minute when Bernard Kokonu confidently converted from the penalty spot after the hosts were awarded a spot-kick.
The goal looked set to hand the Still Believe lads consecutive league victories for the first time this season as they controlled much of the closing stages.
However, Debibi United refused to surrender and found a dramatic equaliser late in the game through substitute Obeng Junior, who made an instant impact from the bench to silence the home supporters and rescue a valuable point for the visitors.
The late setback means Dreams FC remain rooted to the foot of the Ghana Premier League table as their difficult campaign continues despite showing signs of improvement in recent weeks.
The Still Believe lads will now shift their focus to another crucial fixture away to Heart of Lions, where they will be aiming to climb off the bottom of the standings.
For Debibi United, the draw extends their recent positive momentum after last weekend’s victory over Hearts of Oak. The valuable away point leaves the newly promoted side just outside the relegation zone on goal difference ahead of a fascinating home meeting with fellow debutants Port City in their next league outing.
