Legon Cities midfielder Abdulahi Muhammed believes the sacking of John Paintsil before the commencement of the suspended Ghana Premier League, can be attributed to the club’s poor start to the season.
The former Ghana international was the head coach of Legon Cities after the club was bought and converted from Wa All Stars which went through massive club branding.
The club was later moved from Wa to Accra and had to release the former Fullham defender fromhis coaching role for certification reasons before the start of the season.
Speaking in an interview on Kumasi=based Angel FM, Abdulahi Muhammed told host Don Summer that the change in the head coach position just two weeks before the start of 2019/20 Ghana premier league affected the club.
“Before Goran Barjaktarevic took over, we had enough preparations with John Paintsil who introduced us to the three-back system. We trained with this system under Paintsil for more than six months and later he was sacked few weeks before our first game.
”When Goran took over, he introduced different training sessions, tactics and formation which were difficult to adopt because the league was already in play” Abdulahi further mentioned.
He adds that the change, affected the club when they started the season because they were ready for the league with Painstil’s system.
Abdulahi Muhammed has made seven appearances for Legon Cities in the 2019/20 season.
Legon Cities are now 15th on the league table after recording 3 wins, 7 draws with loses in 15 matches in the suspended premier league.
