Accra Hearts of Oak legend Dan Quaye has rendered a sincere apology to Executive Board Chairman and majority shareholder of the club, Togbe Afede XIV for accusing him of hijacking the club to himself and preventing old players and past management from coming near the club.

The six times Ghana Premier League winner spoke exclusively with ghanasportspage.com where he bemoaned Hearts of Oak’s inability to win an competitive trophy for the past ten years, and attributed the situation to administrative lapses under the Togbe led administration of the club.

“The Hearts of Oak, it doesn’t belong to Togbe, the club belongs to supporters but now it’s him who has hijacked the club, so I think the shares they floated did not help Hearts of Oak, because I feel that when we won the Champions League and everything we won, we did it with hunger. “Is he not the majority shareholder of the club, he is the bankroller of the club, and the mistake he is making is that the he has no regard for the old management and the players who won glories for the club too they don’t want us to come near the club so how can the team progress?”, Dan Quaye said in an interview.

The comments by Dan Quaye after the publication by Ghana’s number one sports website ghanasportspage.com, has triggered mixed reactions from the Board of Accra Hearts of Oak, the management and supporters as well. In view of this, Dan Quaye has decided to eat the humble pie and use the same medium to render a sincere apology to the Executive Board Chairman of Hearts of Oak, Togbe Afede XIV, the Board members and supporters of the club who have been offended by his comments.

“As a human, sometimes you never know where you go wrong until you are prompted”, Dan Quaye started as he aplogises to Togbe in an interview with ghanasportspage.com. “So if in the course of the interview I said something disparaging, then I apologise, to err is human, so if am saying something and I go wrong and I have been prompted to it I have to come back and retract, so if I said something wrong to offend anybody I aplologise”, he remoursefully said.

According to Dan Quaye, he did not realise he went that far during the interview but it’s only the unwise person that will not accept his or her mistake when prompted, and as such he seeks for the forgiveness of all who felt offended by his comments as he meant no harm.

“It is only the unwise person who will say I won’t apologise when his attention is drawn to offensive comments he made, so for that I apologise if what I said has been deemed offensive, they said I said Togbe has hijacked the team that is why this and that….no non, no, for that if that’s what I said then I apologise, Togbe should forgive me on that. You know sometimes when you are talking so much you make some comments without being conscious of what you said, so for that I apologise”, he stated.
