Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku is disappointed that RC Strasbourg have gone winlees in their first two opening games in the French Ligue 1.
RC Strasbourg after losing 3-1 in their 2020/21 season-opening game to FC Lorient away, failed to win at home after losing 2-0 to Nice.
A brace from Kasper Dolberg on the 37th 59the minute ensured Nice defeated RC Strasbourg 2-0 at home on Saturday.
Kasper Dolberg gave Nice the lead in the 37th-minute mark of the game before the break.
He then bagged his brace in the 59th minute when he calmly converted a penalty awarded his side.
And Djiku who was rated by reputable football statistics website whoscored.com as one of the top three defenders in Europe last season with the highest successful tackle rates, is not pleased with his side’s poor start to the season.
“We were keen to do well at home. In first, even if Nice had the ball, we were not in danger until this first goal,” said Djiku during a post-match conference on Saturday.
He added “We are obviously disappointed with these first two results. We have two weeks to work well and ensure that everyone comes back to their full potential.”
The French-born Ghanaian international would be hoping to get his maiden call-up by Ghana coach CK Akonnor for the West African side’s 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers doubleheader against Sudan in November.
