Argentine head coach Juan Brown has been sacked by Ismaily after just over three months in charge, with the club lying in the relegation zone.
The 44-year-old ex-Al Hilal and Argentina U20 manager was appointed by Ismaily in November of last year in hopes of turning around the team’s fortunes.
While he guided Ismaily to the League Cup semi-finals, Brown failed to win any of the six league games he was in charge of, drawing three while losing the other three as his side scored just two goals.
Ismaily now find themselves lying last to bottom with just three points from their opening nine league games, four points adrift from safety.
Following their latest 1-0 defeat to Pyramids on Wednesday, Ismaily’s club board led by Yehia El-Komy has decided to relieve Brown from his duties after just 11 games in charge.
Brown’s departure means Ismaily have now had five coaches since the start of 2021, with Ehab Galal the only one to remain in his post for more than 100 days.
Club legends Ashraf Khedr and Mohamed Homos will lead the training sessions until the club’s board find a replacement for Brown, with French manager Sébastien Desabre the closest to taking the role.
Ismaily’s president Yehia El-Komy has revealed that Desabre is the leading candidate for the job, but they are yet to contact the Frenchman for a second stint at the club.
Currently in charge of Ligue 2 outfit Chamois Niort, Desabre had a successful stint with Ismaily in 2017 when he led the team to a second-placed finish in the league, the club’s highest league position since 2009.
Desabre then left to take charge of Uganda, before having another stint in Egypt with Pyramids FC, which lasted for less than six months.
Aside from his time in Egypt, the 45-year-old had stints at ASEC Mimosas, Cotonsport, Esperance, C.R.D Libolo, Dubai CSC, JS Saoura, and Wydad Casablanca.
However, it’s still yet to be seen whether the head coach would like a return to Egypt, especially as his side Niort are only four points adrift from the Ligue 1 promotion playoffs.
