Napoli, the Serie A champions, announced on Saturday that Victor Osimhen (24) has signed a contract extension, keeping him with the club until 2026.
The announcement was accompanied by a picture of the Nigerian international striker signing the new deal alongside club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.
While Napoli did not disclose specific details of the new contract, Italian media reports suggest a release clause ranging between 120 million and 130 million euros has been included to safeguard against losing their star player to Premier League suitors without substantial compensation.
Osimhen’s previous contract would have expired in June 2025, and his renewal has been a significant topic of discussion since Napoli secured their first league title in over three decades last season.
Under departed coach Luciano Spalletti, Osimhen scored 26 league goals, contributing to Napoli’s captivating style of football that led to their championship win.
Since joining Napoli from Lille in 2020, Osimhen has scored a total of 67 goals in 118 appearances.
Despite this extension, Napoli currently sits 14 points behind Serie A leaders Inter and faces a challenging match against rivals Roma on Sunday night, following their midweek exit from the Italian Cup against Frosinone.
