Legendary Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has expressed skepticism about the club’s choice to sign Antony instead of Mohammed Kudus, both former players under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.
Following a standout performance by Kudus in West Ham’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United, Schmeichel questioned the decision, saying, “There’s something about that boy [Kudus], he’s special. I don’t get it if he [Ten Hag] knows these boys very well, why did he pick Antony ahead of Kudus?” on Premier League Production.
Kudus has been a stellar performer, scoring 10 goals in all competitions, while Antony has faced challenges.
The contrasting performances not only raise questions about Manchester United’s decision-making but also contribute to West Ham’s ambitions in the Premier League.
After the defeat, West Ham climbed into sixth place in the table, while Manchester United dropped to eighth. The upcoming fixtures include Manchester United hosting Aston Villa on Boxing Day, and West Ham travels to Arsenal on Thursday, December 28.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Kudus is poised to make Ghana’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled to be hosted in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, establishing himself as a key player for David Moyes’ side.
