Ghanaian striker Jonathan Sowah has made a significant move to Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars SC, joining from Libyan side Al Nasr Benghazi for a reported transfer fee of $220,000.
The 24-year-old becomes the latest Ghanaian to join the Tanzanian outfit, where he will reunite with compatriots Emmanuel Keyekeh and Ibrahim Imoro. Sowah’s move comes despite being under contract with Al Nasr until December 31, 2025.
Sowah joined Al Nasr in January 2024 from Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC for a reported fee of $200,000. During his time with the Libyan club, he showcased his skills in the CAF Champions League, playing a key role in their campaign, although Al Nasr fell short, with Egypt’s Al Ahly ultimately lifting the title.
The talented forward first gained prominence during Medeama’s triumphant 2022/2023 Ghana Premier League season. Sowah was instrumental in their success, scoring 12 goals and providing one assist in just 20 league matches. His outstanding performances earned him a call-up to the Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations under coach Chris Hughton.
Now embarking on a new chapter in Tanzania, Sowah is determined to make a strong impact with Singida Black Stars and further cement his reputation as one of Ghana’s rising football stars.
