Antoine Semenyo believes Ghana’s commanding 5-0 victory over Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers will give the team a much-needed confidence boost for the matches ahead.

Before this game, the Black Stars had struggled in attack, managing only three goals in their last six outings—a poor run that contributed to their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. However, their dominant performance at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday sent a strong message.

“I feel like we’ve got goal scorers in the team. We just need to get into the right positions, and we’ve done that today. Scoring five goals is a confidence booster,” Semenyo said after the match.

The Black Stars wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Semenyo finding the net in just the second minute. Inaki Williams added a second, followed by Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, and Ernest Nuamah, sealing an emphatic win.

Ghana not only controlled possession but also displayed an attacking sharpness that had been missing in recent games, creating multiple scoring opportunities.

This victory pushes Ghana to the top of Group I in the World Cup qualifiers. Coach Otto Addo and his team now turn their attention to Monday’s crucial clash against Madagascar, where they will look to maintain their winning form.
