Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have named former Netherlands international goalkeeper Stanley Menzo as their new Director of Football in a major step aimed at strengthening the club’s technical direction.

The announcement was made on Monday as part of Kotoko’s long-term plan to modernise their football operations and rebuild the team into a dominant force in Ghana and across Africa.

Menzo, 62, brings a wealth of experience from an extensive career in both playing and coaching. During his playing days, he spent over a decade with AFC Ajax, where he made more than 300 appearances and won several major trophies, including European honours. He also represented the Netherlands national team and was part of their squad at the 1990 FIFA World Cup.

After retiring, Menzo moved into coaching and management, working with clubs and national teams across Europe, Africa, and Asia. His experience includes roles at clubs such as Volendam, Cambuur, Lierse, Ajax Cape Town, and Beijing Guoan, as well as national team assignments with Aruba and Suriname.

In his new role at Kotoko, Menzo will oversee the club’s entire football structure. This includes transfer decisions, player development, youth academy integration, and the overall technical philosophy of the team. He is also expected to supervise technical affairs until a permanent head coach is appointed.

Club officials believe his international experience and strong football network will play a key role in reshaping the team ahead of the upcoming season.

Menzo described his appointment as a great honour and expressed his commitment to working closely with players, coaches, and supporters to build a successful future for the club.
