Newly appointed Director of Football at Asante Kotoko, Stanley Menzo, has shared his ambitions for the club after officially beginning his new role in Ghanaian football.
The former Ajax and Netherlands international goalkeeper was unveiled on Monday, stepping into a key leadership position tasked with shaping Kotoko’s technical direction, recruitment strategy, and overall football operations.
Speaking shortly after his appointment, Menzo explained that the club’s stature and vision played a major role in his decision to accept the offer.
“It is an honour to join a club of the stature and history of Asante Kotoko,” Menzo said.
He also pointed to the energy of the supporters and the leadership’s ambition as key motivating factors.
“The passion of the supporters and the ambition of the leadership made this an easy decision.”
At 62, Menzo brings decades of experience from his playing days at Ajax and with the Netherlands national team, as well as his later career in coaching and football administration.
He expressed strong enthusiasm about collaborating with the club’s technical staff and players as Kotoko aim to re-establish themselves among Ghana’s top contenders.
“I look forward to working with the technical team, the players and the entire Kotoko family to build something special and to compete for the trophies this club deserves.”
His arrival is part of Kotoko’s broader restructuring plan aimed at strengthening long-term football development and establishing a more defined sporting philosophy.
In his role, Menzo will oversee technical planning, player recruitment and retention, and youth development, while also ensuring alignment between the club’s academy system and the senior team.
He is regarded as one of the most high-profile football administrators to join a Ghanaian club in recent years, underlining Kotoko’s intent to rebuild strongly ahead of the new season.
Further announcements regarding the club’s technical structure and backroom setup are expected in the coming weeks.
