Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku has expressed his strong desire to represent the Black Stars again, pledging to give his best if handed another opportunity.
Opoku’s impressive form since rejoining Asante Kotoko on a two-and-a-half-year deal has positioned him as a contender for a national team call-up. With Coach Otto Addo seeking a reliable goal-scorer ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March, the forward’s recent performances have been hard to ignore.
The 24-year-old has been in sensational form, scoring four goals in just three matches and helping the Porcupine Warriors rise to third place on the Ghana Premier League table with 31 points. Reflecting on his earlier stint with the Black Stars, Opoku admitted he had more to offer. “I believe that during my first time with the Black Stars, I had more to offer, but maybe it wasn’t the right moment,” he told Asempa FM.
Now, Opoku is determined to earn another chance with the national team. “I am focused on improving my game, and if the chance comes to represent the Black Stars, I’ll be ready and willing to give my all for the national team,” he added.
With his current form for Kotoko, many believe Opoku has the potential to bolster Ghana’s attacking options as the team prepares for crucial World Cup qualifying matches.
