Asante Kotoko are in advanced negotiations to sign Moroccan goalkeeper Abdel Wadie Mourad, with both parties reportedly moving closer to reaching an agreement, according to Mo Shaban.
The 22-year-old shot-stopper, who currently features for Moroccan top-flight club Chabab Mohammedia, has emerged as a strong target for the Porcupine Warriors ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Mourad has been linked with a move to the Ghana Premier League in recent weeks, and reports indicate that while he was initially connected with an unnamed Ghanaian club, Kotoko have now positioned themselves as favourites to secure his services.
The young goalkeeper enjoyed regular playing time with Chabab Mohammedia in the 2024/25 Botola Pro League, making 13 appearances and accumulating 1,170 minutes of action. He is currently valued at around €130,000 and is represented by Mir Sport.
A potential move to Baba Yara Stadium would strengthen Kotoko’s goalkeeping department, which has seen major changes during the current transfer window. The club recently welcomed back former goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, while Mohammed Camara completed a move to Ethiopian side Mechal.
If the deal is finalised, Mourad will become one of the few Moroccan players to feature in the Ghana Premier League and another key addition as Kotoko continue rebuilding their squad under head coach Eric Tinkler.
With negotiations reportedly at an advanced stage, an official confirmation of the transfer could be announced in the coming days.
