On Tuesday, Asante Kotoko announced that they have suspended winger Joseph Amoako indefinitely, pending a final determination through the club’s disciplinary procedures.
The suspension was issued after Amoako’s misconduct on social media with supporters and the release of a leaked audio on micro-blogging platforms.
Amoako, who recently returned to the club after a loan spell with Swedish outfit Helsingborgs IF, engaged in an altercation with the Kumasi-based club’s fans on Facebook, which led to some of the fans attacking him.
As a result of his misconduct, the 20-year-old winger has received an indefinite suspension from the club’s activities.
Amoako was previously detained in Swedish Police custody in November 2022 for engaging in sexual affairs with a minor. Helsingborgs IF cancelled his loan deal due to the rape allegations before the contract expired in January.
The budding talented winger was initially found guilty on two counts and handed a 24-month jail term by the Helsingborgs District Court, but he has been released after an appeal.
Amoako struggled for playing time at Helsingborgs IF, making only ten game outings (295 minutes) for the club in all competitions.
