General Manager of Okwahu United, Nana Kwame Dankwah, has advised Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare to make a move to rivals Asante Kotoko if he wants to solidify his place in the senior national team, the Black Stars.
Dankwah, who previously served as a prominent supporters’ leader for Kotoko, believes the 32-year-old shot-stopper would excel in Kumasi and further elevate his profile with the national team.
“It would truly benefit him [Benjamin Asare] if he joined Kotoko,” he said in an interview with Accra-based Hot FM. “Hearts will not aid his progress.”
Asare’s reputation has soared in recent weeks after his standout performances for Ghana during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March. He kept clean sheets in both matches against Chad and Madagascar, playing a key role in Ghana’s impressive results.
Following those displays, many have taken note of Asare’s ability, with some seeing him as the future No.1 for the Black Stars. Nana Kwame Dankwah believes Kotoko would offer the ideal environment for Asare to grow and maintain his form at the highest level.
The Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, who previously played for Great Olympics, was also named Man of the Match in his club’s 1-0 victory over Medeama SC on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium—further highlighting his current run of excellent form.
