Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has admitted that facing Morocco in an upcoming friendly will be a difficult challenge for his team.
Ghana’s senior women’s national team is set to play against the Atlas Lionesses on Friday in Casablanca as part of their preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Speaking ahead of his first game in charge, Björkegren emphasized that the primary goal of the match is to strengthen key areas and build a solid foundation for the future.
“Morocco is a good team with a lot of talent. Playing away from home will be a challenge, especially with our new coaching staff and players,” the 43-year-old coach stated.
Despite the challenges, Björkegren remains focused on the long-term objectives of the team.
“But we’re focused on building for the long term, learning from our mistakes, and preparing for the summer tournament. We’ll work hard to win, but we’re also looking at the bigger picture,” he added.
The match against Morocco will take place at Père Jégo Stadium in Casablanca at 17:00Hrs. Three days later, the Black Queens will face AS FAR Rabat in another crucial test as they continue their WAFCON preparations.
