Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has named a 23-player Black Queens squad for a training camp in Senegal, running from April 1 to April 9, 2025. This tour is a crucial part of their preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The team will engage in intensive training sessions and play two friendly matches against Senegal’s Teranga Lionesses in Dakar, offering a valuable opportunity to fine-tune tactics and assess squad depth.
The squad sees the return of several experienced players, including midfielders Ernestina Abambilla and Patience Peterson-Kundok, defender Phillicity Asuako, and forward Princess Owusu, all of whom rejoin after a brief absence from international duty.
A key inclusion is Hasaacas Ladies goalkeeper Grace Buoduwa Banwaa, who earns her maiden senior national team call-up. Banwaa has been in stellar form in the Women’s Premier League, keeping 12 clean sheets and conceding just one goal in 15 matches.
With WAFCON fast approaching, the upcoming friendlies against Senegal will be a vital test of the team’s readiness as they gear up for a strong showing on the continental stage.
