Ghana’s national football team is preparing for their crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, with the squad announcement expected by the end of the week.
The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, confirmed that all necessary steps for releasing the squad have been completed.
“Before we release the squad, normally there is a process that we go through,” Twum explained. “When the coach finalizes his squad, we have to inform the players’ clubs. After that, he has to present and defend his selections at the management committee level. Once these steps are completed and nothing changes, we proceed with the announcement. Luckily, we have exhausted all these processes, and we are sure that by the close of this week, he will announce the team.”
Ghana is competing in Group I of the CAF qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, alongside Mali, Madagascar, the Central African Republic, Comoros, and Chad. The group winner will secure an automatic spot at the World Cup, while the runner-up could still have a chance via the inter-confederation play-offs.
The upcoming fixtures against Chad and Madagascar are pivotal for the Black Stars as they look to strengthen their qualification hopes. With the team aiming to improve on recent performances, these matches will be key in their bid to top the group standings.
