Inaki Williams, the Black Stars striker, has secured a spot on Sofascore’s La Liga Team of the Week. Williams found the back of the net in Athletic Bilbao’s 3-0 victory against Cadiz on Saturday afternoon.
He was in the starting lineup for the game at the San Mamés Barria and played the entire 90 minutes, while his brother Nico Williams was sidelined due to injury.
Before the match, the head-to-head record between the teams showed Athletic Club with four wins, Cadiz with two wins, and no draws.
Throughout the game, the home side maintained more possession.
The opening goal came in the 66th minute when Gorka Guruzeta headed the ball into the bottom left corner from very close range, assisted by Óscar De Marcos with a cross.
Just two minutes later, in the 68th minute, Asier Villalibre’s header from very close range found the bottom right corner, extending Athletic Club’s lead to 2-0.
In the 77th minute, Inaki Williams had an opportunity to make it 3-0, but his shot was saved.
Williams added his name to the scoresheet in the 90th minute with a right-footed shot from the left side of the six-yard box, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner. The goal was set up by Asier Villalibre with a headed pass.
Bilbao’s next league game will be against Deportivo Alaves.
