Bofoakwa Tano’s coach, John Eduafo, expressed disappointment and highlighted defensive lapses as a crucial factor in their defeat against Asante Kotoko in the recent Ghana Premier League match.
The Porcupine Warriors secured a decisive 2-0 win in the final game of the first half of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign, with Steve Mukwala’s brilliant brace propelling them to the second spot on the league table.
Reflecting on his team’s performance, Eduafo lamented, “We didn’t perform well, we lost the game. We couldn’t play the way we wanted and couldn’t defend well. Two cheap goals, we gave it to them to score. Defensive errors are one of those things that happened in the game, we lost,” he revealed in an interview with StarTimes.
The struggle for Bofoakwa Tano persists, as they have been unable to secure a win in their last six games. This disappointing streak has led them to occupy the 14th position on the league table, accumulating 17 points after the conclusion of the week 17 fixture.
Eduafo’s acknowledgment of the defensive shortcomings underscores the team’s need for improvement in that aspect. The coach’s candid admission of mistakes and defensive lapses suggests a commitment to addressing and rectifying these issues as Bofoakwa Tano looks ahead to the remainder of the Ghana Premier League campaign.
The consecutive losses and the team’s current league standing emphasize the challenges facing Bofoakwa Tano, prompting a reevaluation of strategies and a renewed focus on rectifying defensive vulnerabilities.
As the league progresses, Eduafo and his coaching staff may need to implement adjustments to bolster the team’s performance and regain momentum in the competition.
