His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the life patron of Asante Kotoko, has granted his blessing to our Technical Director, James Kwasi Appiah, to accept the position of Head Coach for the Sudan national team.
This blessing came after a meeting in London between His Majesty and the club’s former left-back, Kwasi Appiah.
While taking on the role of Head Coach for Sudan, Kwasi Appiah will continue to serve as the Technical Director of Kotoko. In this capacity, he will also participate in the upcoming Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council elections, scheduled for next month.
Kwasi Appiah, an experienced technical expert who has twice managed the Black Stars from 2013 to 2014 and 2017 to 2019, is expected to provide leadership in Kotoko’s technical direction as the team undergoes restructuring.

The former Black Stars skipper, before taking up the head coach for the second time, was coaching Sudanese side Khartoum Club from December 2014 to April 2017.
Appiah carved a niche for himself in Sudan, which his managerial exploits with Khartoum Club, having led them to the CAF Confederation Cup.
Before his Sudan adventure, Appiah was head coach of the Black Stars, where he guided the team to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The Sudanese FA has decided that due to the political unrest in the country recently, the national teams will play their home matches in Egypt.
