English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, wants to keep the Ghanaian international who is being chased by Portuguese club Sporting CP in the ongoing Summer transfer window.
The Green and Whites outfit are ready to splash the cash on the young versatile defender to sign him from the English Premier League side.
However, reports available to Sportsworldghana.com according to UK-based journalist Andy Naylor indicate that Brighton Manager Roberto De Zerbi, is not willing to release Lamptey for any club this Summer since he considers him as a key member of the club’s current squad.
Lamptey played for 64 minutes in Brighton’s under-21s as they came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 away to his former club Chelsea on Friday night.
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi said: “I want him to reach the best physical condition before we start to play three games per week. We will need everybody.”
Lamptey hasn’t made a first team appearance since sustaining knee damage against West Ham at the beginning of March.
The right-back could have another run-out for the Under-21s in the EFL Trophy at Walsall on Tuesday night.
Brighton’s Europa League group fixtures begin on September 21.
Lamptey, when fit is undoubtedly a delight to watch and has consistently show his abilities in the English top-flight helping the Seagulls to secure UEFA Europa League spot at the end of the 2022-23 season.
