Bernard Morrison, the Ghanaian midfielder, will be absent from the Young Africans’ lineup for their CAF Confederation Cup match against Marumo Gallants due to his denied entry into South Africa.
Morrison has been barred from reentering the country due to a violation of immigration regulations in 2018.
The former Orlando Pirates midfielder overstayed his visa by two months beyond its expiration date.
Yanga SC arrived on Sunday for their second-leg encounter at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, carrying a 2-0 lead from the first leg, with Morrison scoring the second goal during injury time.
“Morrison has received a five-year ban,” revealed Young Africans president Hersi Said to KickOff.
“We sought guidance from the embassy and attempted various measures, but unfortunately, we were unsuccessful. Consequently, he will miss the match against Marumo Gallants in Rustenburg on Wednesday.”
Yanga goes into the game with 2-0 advantage and will be hoping to scale past Gallants to secure final spot.
