Caleb Kporha reflects on new long-term Crystal Palace deal with gratitude and determination

Caleb Kporha’s heartfelt words after signing a new long-term contract with Crystal Palace perfectly reflect the mindset of a young footballer who is deeply thankful for how far he’s come—and fully focused on what lies ahead.

The 18-year-old English-born Ghanaian defender, who has made remarkable progress through Palace’s academy ranks, spoke with pride and sincerity about a whirlwind year that has seen him rise from youth football to the edge of senior action.

“I’m feeling really proud,” Kporha said, capturing the emotion of a player whose quiet perseverance and hard work have started to pay off.

One of the standout moments of his journey came during pre-season, when he joined the first team on their tour of the United States—an opportunity that proved to be both eye-opening and affirming.

“I enjoyed it and got a good few minutes out there,” he recalled, highlighting the value of being trusted at a higher level.

Beyond the pitch, Kporha’s words shine a light on the sense of unity and support within the club—an environment that has clearly shaped his growth.

“The coach and the team are so welcoming and they’re always there for you,” he shared. “So I feel like I’ve got a lot to learn from the manager and I feel like there’s a lot to come in the future.”

That belief in what lies ahead is a sign of both maturity and hunger. Despite a challenging year that included a long spell out due to injury, Kporha has bounced back stronger, with appearances at U21 level, a senior debut against Fulham, and a start in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Arsenal.

Off the domestic stage, he’s also made his international debut for England’s Under-19 team—another milestone in what’s becoming an exciting rise.

With his contract now running until 2029, and the backing of both his club and country, Kporha’s path is full of promise. Still grounded, yet clearly driven, he knows the hard work is just beginning. And from the confidence in his voice, one thing is clear: Caleb Kporha is ready to write the next chapter.
