Ghanaian forward Carl Davordzie delivered a brilliant performance on Sunday to help CSM Ceahlaul secure a crucial 2-1 win over Afumati in the Romanian Liga II play-offs.
The 23-year-old played a key role in turning the tide after Ceahlaul fell behind in the 22nd minute. Davordzie brought his side level in the 57th minute with a stunning volley. Latching onto a long ball, he showed great composure to lift it over the goalkeeper with precision.
As the game hung in the balance, the former Parma youth player produced another moment of magic. With a swift drop of the shoulder, he left his marker behind and burst down the flank. Racing to the byline, he sent in a pinpoint low cross that found teammate Amasihohu, who calmly slotted home the winner to complete the turnaround.
Davordzie’s exceptional display not only helped secure the vital three points but also earned him the man-of-the-match award. His return to form comes at a crucial time for CSM Ceahlaul, who are fighting to stay in Romania’s second division.
